    NB Ventura County, CA Museums

    The Carnegie Art Museum Oxnard has a significant collection of California art in many schools, with rotating exhibits, art education programs for adults, youth, and children, and is a Blue Star Museum, free to active duty military and family from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

    The Mullin Automotive Museum, in Oxnard, has a small but styling collection of cars, mainly classic Bugattis, and periodically exhibits other classics, and has a side collection of Bugatti furniture and decor (Bugatti was originally a high end furniture maker).

    The Channel Islands Maritime Museum, in Oxnard, is home of a large collection of maritime art, including some Dutch and Flemish masterworks, whaling exhibits, sailor's art, scrimshaw, and a large collection of ship models of several periods.

    The US Navy Seabee Museum, on station at Port Hueneme, presents artifacts and art related to history of the Naval Construction Force. Seabees moved through this port in great numbers in World War II, and left a lot of items behind on the way back; over the years uniforms, photos, unit flags and other items, and items from other wars have been added to the collection. Admission is free.

    The Museum of Ventura, is a local and regional history museum in the city of Ventura, focusing on working people and their lives. The Museum of Ventura also has a branch especially agricultural life, in Santa Paula.

    The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, located in Ventura County, just west of Simi Valley. The library and museum holds a wealth of information on and art and artifacts related to the president's life, policies and administration.

    The California Oil Museum focuses on a major California industry - oil, how it was made, how it's extracted, and what it's used for. The museum is in downtown Santa Paula.

    Solvang is a small city in Santa Barbara County, about two hours north, with a Danish theme - much of the city is built and laid out as a Danish town. This theme extends to local Danish-flavored events, goods, architecture, and public art, and two museums, the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, a small museum attached to a bookstore, and the Elverhoj Museum. Solvang is also home to the Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum, with a wide range of display motorcycles since 1910.
